In 2010, 24-year-old Eliot Crowther was in an almost dead end job as a door to door salesperson. Then he had an idea.
Within months he and Chris Heaslip founded Pushpay. The fledgling company almost failed more than once, but Eliot tells the story of how Pushpay went on to becoming a company with a 100 million dollar revenue stream by processing over 3 billion dollars a year in giving, with a goal of 10 billion a year by 2020.

3 Insights from This Episode
1. Success begins with serving through empathy
The best way to serve others, in whatever capacity, is to make intentional efforts towards gaining a better understanding of their needs.
When you put the needs of the people you’re trying to serve first, it means spending time with them and listening. It means being willing to embrace change within your own organization. It means working hands-on with your team to solve problems by finding a better way to perform an existing service.
Empathy is the basis of success and once that is in place, add creativity to your execution and watch something incredible happen.
2. Being faithful with less can prepare you for more
It’s easy to get fixated on what you wish you had and take for granted the gifts right in front of you. But the truth is, if you can’t steward the small things in your life with integrity, you won’t be able to steward the bigger things either.
Sometimes God uses really unlikely things as a way of preparing you. Don’t miss out on learning those early lessons so you’re ready when more comes your way.
3. Culture is more than a cool place to work
Over the years, the word “culture” has become a trendy way for people to describe a desirable, cool place to work where everybody likes each other. But culture is actually the definition of how people act in an environment and should be clearly defined, celebrated and championed in the work place.
It’s important for leaders to value culture and elevate those who carry it out well. People with similar philosophies will want to be a part of the team and those who don’t share the same values will be repelled. The faster an organization successfully defines and maintains its culture, the faster a dream team can come together and carry out the mission.
