A year later he became a Christian. He shares what ESPN is learning about social media, how to integrate your faith at work, and how church leaders can leverage business leaders in ministry.

3 Insights from This Episode

1. Tell more stories

Jason is an expert in the field of social media. Through years of managing ESPN owned accounts, Jason has learned that the content that connects is the content that tells a story. There’s no defined format to this. It can be images, short recaps or long form, in-depth profiles of people. No matter what it is, if it’s a good story—it will rise to the top.

2. Be a light in your workplace (no matter where you work)

Jason is man who loves Jesus, but he doesn’t work for a Christian company. Jason chooses to be a light in his workplace by doing his job well and with integrity. He is a true practitioner of Colossians 3:23. When people notice the integrity he brings, it opens doors to have meaningful conversations with his coworkers.

3. Engaging high capacity leaders

Businesses function best when the right roles merge with the right talent. Churches are no different. If your church has skilled, high capacity individuals who have a heart to serve, talk to them about the opportunities to leverage their talent. Or, if you feel like you have a talent you can offer the local church, talk to someone on staff about how you can use it to serve. You don’t need to be on church staff full time to be a high capacity leader.
