A New Blog

Welcome to my blog.  This is a NEW chapter in my life, as I step back from Trinity Community Church to launch Connexus Community Church.

This blog will be the place where a couple of "worlds" converge…being a follower of Jesus, a pastor, and a church leader.

I hope this blog can be a connection point for the people of Connexus, leaders whom we’re meeting through Orange and North Point, friends we’ve made who began with us via Encouragement Today, and listeners of Life Matters across Central Ontario.

Several times a week, I’ll post a series of thoughts on life as a follower of Jesus and as a church leader trying to leverage transformation and see what transpires.  Hopefully it will provoke some dialogue, be an encouragement and provoke change, personally and in ministry.  At a minimum, I’ll be able to share hopes, dreams, disappointments, frustrations, wins and maybe even a few insights along the way.

Welcome to the next step of this incredible journey together.

    It is great that you have created this forum. It is going to be an interesting, exciting and busy few weeks. Remember to take time for yourself and the fam!

    From everything that I am hearing, God is doing some amazing, crazy things in & around this ministry. May you continue to seek out God's will & plan as you venture out into uncharted waters. Thinking and praying for you & your new ministry.

    I would like to thank you for all that we have been able to accomplish together at Trinity. He have come a long way from the three point charge of struggling churches to Trinity and now beyond. We have challenged the traditional church model and we have been effective in reaching our community and others. I believe that your ability to communicate God's word relevantly to people is a direct gift. Although I am sad to see you leave Trinity I know God has called you elsewhere and I would like to wish you the greatest of success with Connexus in reaching even more people. God bless!

    I don't know that I could be more excited about the adventure that is Connexus Community Church than I already am! I have seen incredible role models display incredible faith and trust in Jesus Christ through this whole process. You have shown me our God is BIG, and our God is love – so there is no tellng where this will go with prayer, obedience and an open heart.     You don't know me. We've never met, I've never been to a service at Trinity, I've never even heard you speak. But I have been amazed to see what God has done in and through you, and your ministry has deeply impacted friends of mine. I expect it will continue to do so!

    We do share some common DNA in our appreciation for Andy Stanley and the ministry of Northpoint. I'm living and worshipping with my family in Cambridge, but honestly wish we lived closer so we could join you on your new adventure. You will certainly be in our prayers in the weeks and months ahead, and by God's grace will shall meet!

    Hi Carey! Laurie and I have followed the anchoring, development and outreach of Trinity now for a few years – all the way from Millbrook. We had been blessed to attend a number of your worship services up in Oro over the past few years. And now God has called the Leadership Team and the congregation to even bigger and better things! Great stuff! This is what being a Christian is all about – reading, and acting upon His Word. Simple. Whether you fellowship and worship together in a "church" or theatre doesn't matter. What matters is when you leave and walk out into the Mission field beyond those walls. And being prepped, and armoured, to do so. Laurie and I will be up again soon to offer our support, encouragement and prayers. May God bless you all!

    Well, here it is, November 4. So far it has seemed somewhat unreal but here I am planning to visit another church. That in itself is exciting, but my real excitement lies in waiting to see what God has planned for Connexus, part of His body. Who are the people that will be part of His kingdom because we are willing to step out in faith? What is the role that God will allow us play? I am so thankful that I have the privilege of being part of this!

    Wow,this has been a journey. One that has been such a blessing in my life. Its easy to say that your going to follow God's word and obey, but when your called upon regardless of how risky it may seem, what do you do? You act and step out in faith.
    Carey, and the leadership/worship team you have been blessed with such gifts that has not only deeply blessed myself but my kids as well. Thank you!
    At first when I heard of the new location I was a bit baffled but through the comments and some deep time in prayer I can see that you don't need to be in a church with a big fancy cross on the top. The church is just a shell. We are the "body" of the church. The body in Christ. I'm looking forward to being part of Connexus and the exciting new journey it brings. My prayers are with all of you and the support of your families and hey maybe I can get my husband out now!
